Used and Refurbished Washing Machines

A washing machine is a very expensive appliance to buy and that is why many of us will be looking for cheap washing machines.  However the brand new models that are available these days are rarely cheap.  You can expect to pay up to and above five hundred pounds for a top of the range washing machine these days.  In fact some of them can even set you back closer to a thousand pounds.  So how can you save money when it comes to buying a washing machine?  Well, have you ever thought about used or refurbished washing machines?

When it comes to buying a used washing machine or one that has been refurbished, you will obviously be taking a bit of a risk.  You will not have the same guarantee as you would with a brand new model so it is very important that you know whether the machine you are looking at is worth buying.  The best way to do this is to know what questions you should be asking.  Below are a few questions to put to the seller of a used or refurbished washing machine:

Will you come and repair it if it doesn't work or will I have the option to get my money back?  It is very important that you are not buying a machine that does not work.  This can often happen when it comes to used washing machines so you need to find out whether you have any comeback should it break down after a week or two.  If you are buying a refurbished washing machine then you should get some kind of warranty as you will more than likely be purchasing it from a retailer of some sort but with a used washing machine, it is normally a private seller and most of these sellers will sell items on an ‘as is’ basis.

What kind of warranty are you offering?  If your machine is refurbished and you get a warranty, it may be a case that a repair man will repair the machine in your own home but some of these warranties require you to take the machine to a repair shop or back to the store.  You need to find this out before you buy and get it in writing if possible.

Refurbished washing machines have been repaired in the factory and are supposed to work just like a brand new model.  It will have to pass a number of tests before it can be sold on so these are usually the best type of machines to buy if you are looking for cheap washing machines.  When going for a used model, you are putting your trust in the seller and this may not always be the right move when it comes to used electrical items.
